“I often joke that as a solopreneur, my job comes with unlimited, unpaid family leave. But in all seriousness, it’s a scary proposition to have potentially no income for the duration of the time I take to care for myself, the little person I create, and my family. My husband and I are fortunate to have been able to save and create a safety net, so that I can take up to 8 weeks away from my business. Not all entrepreneurs have that luxury. I enthusiastically support the FAMILY Act and paid leave principles, and I encourage other small business owners to do the same.”
