“As a small business owner, I care greatly about attracting, retaining, and caring for a quality staff. That business is a neighborhood bar, so I also care greatly about the wellbeing of the community we serve, our neighbors and regulars. And as an expecting father and husband whose spouse manages a chronic medical condition, I understand how important it is to be able to care for loved ones after an emergency or the birth of a child. This shouldn’t be a privilege. As such, I strongly support the FAMILY Act, or a similar comprehensive paid family and medical leave act, to strengthen families, businesses, and communities. Small businesses like mine, and all working people, need and deserve this policy.”
